Should Theaters Use Trigger Warnings?

Gail Dines of Culture Reframed

Culture Reframed President and CEO Dr. Gail Dines supported the use of trigger warnings in theaters on WGBH news program Greater Boston. The discussion between WGBH Arts Editor Jared Bowen and Dines was hosted by Jim Braude.

From the WGBH website: Trigger warnings have been a staple on college campuses for years now, advising students that classroom content might be in some way disturbing or upsetting. Now some theaters are using trigger warnings to give audience members advance notice about potentially upsetting material. While some scoff at the practice, others say the warnings are essential to protect victims of trauma.
